My paintings are abstract representations of energy and quiet. Most of them are inspired by nature and often with a metaphorical reference to my internal dialogue. The juxtaposition of what went on in the past with the present and future fascinates me. My paintings represent the energy and quiet of nature, life and our souls.
I want the viewer to see my work, want to continue looking at it each day and have the eye be drawn through and around the painting desiring a closer look. When looking closely, it is apparent that every inch of the painting holds a unique view.
Working in my Mount Pleasant SC studio, I use oil paint with cold wax to create the textures and variations in color. My paintings have sometimes as many as 30 layers of paint. I layer, texture, layer again, scrape back, layer again over and over again until I have just the right look that I am trying to achieve.
